Pantone’s Color of the Year 2020, Classic Blue, is having a moment on the international color stage right now.
This color, that we’ve been seeing in interiors for quite some time, is finally getting the appreciation and notoriety it deserves.
Apparently, Pantone sees it as a calming and stable color, perhaps selected because of political, environmental and looming financial instability predicted in the upcoming decade.
A timeless and enduring blue hue, PANTONE 19-4052 Classic Blue is elegant in its simplicity. Suggestive of the sky at dusk, the reassuring qualities of the thought-provoking PANTONE 19-4052 Classic Blue highlight our desire for a dependable and stable foundation on which to build as we cross the threshold into a new era. Regardless of the reason, I am happy that my stylish clients have requested some bold blues for their interiors, which we happily selected and used in their projects.
This is one color tone that is easy to live with and frankly, becomes almost a bold neutral in a room.
We’ve used it recently on cabinetry in kitchens and baths, upholstered furniture, a barn door, and a show-stopping tile backsplash. :-)
This color pairs well with crisp whites, warm brass, cool grays, white marbles, and many lovely accent colors.

We even have a new kitchen starting in a major remodel/addition right now, that we designed some time ago. So, looks like we are right on trend. ;-)
I think Pantone’s Color of the Year, Classic Blue, is a timeless choice in interiors and will be around for long time.
