This is the time of year to do a little interior design and decor trend forecasting. Let’s see what has emerged recently, what is still going strong and what might rise up in the next year or so.
I’ll be weighing in on kitchens and baths in an upcoming post, but today, I’m talking about color.
Color Trends
In this article about some trends I spotted at High Point Market this year, I mentioned lots of greens and blush or pink tones seen in many of the showrooms. They were featured on furniture or on the walls of the vignettes.
It was refreshing to see these colors embraced all over, not only at High Point. I think you can’t go wrong incorporating these into your interiors or decor in 2020.
These bold greens really appealed to me.
This mid-century, extra long green velvet sofa was seen at Memorial Antiques at the Houston Design Center recently.
A bold, green kitchen at the GE Cafe Appliances showroom at KBIS last year, really made a statement.
I’m working on a new kitchen now with a green color palette.
Pink or Blush Color Tones
Benjamin Moore acknowledged this pretty color, First Light, as their color of the year.
Here are some of the pink or blush tones seen at the last High Point Market. I saw everything from game tables, embroidered artwork, upholstered goods, and more.
Pink tones were used in some of the spaces at the Aspire Showhouse in High Point. The powder bath below, designed by Elissa Grayer, and the living room, designed by Libby Langdon, had these lovely soft pink tones.
Classic Blue
We also can’t ignore Pantone’s Color of the Year, Classic Blue. It’s been popular now for awhile and I don’t think it is going anywhere.
Meg Caswell used it on the ceiling, trimwork and fabrics in the master bedroom of the Aspire Showhouse.
This tabletop by Tish Mills in the Alden Parkes showroom vignettes, used blues beautifully.
The dining room by Scot Meacham Wood in the Aspire Showhouse brought in a classic blue.
I have a quick video of some of the jobs I’ve done in this fab blue colorway.
I’ve got a few more trends I’ll be sharing in the next few weeks.
