This upstairs bedroom in our home had turned into a junk room over the years.
With kids moving out, going through college with various apartments and living situations, it had gone through all kinds of transitions with furniture.
Last year, I finally bought a proper bed and mattress for this room, reused other furniture items and fabrics I had, and pulled it together. Some more decorative touches were added this year, and I’m ready to share the final result today.
At last, my guest bedroom is done, just in time for the holidays!
Before Pic - Bedroom As Junk Room
Believe it or not, there’s a trundle bed under there. :-)
I did the paint color years ago, which I loved, Benjamin Moore Bali.
I liked the color with the dresser, that used to be in my daughter’s room. We bought that, unfinished, when she was a baby. My husband whitewashed it for her room then.
The lamp was an older one I had, that would stay in the revamped room. I really always meant to get new cabinet pulls though, but never did.
The rattan chair was a hand-me-down from my mother-in-law’s house and those bolster cushions were ripe for reupholstering.
I also had a skirted table, with a glass cover top, buried in there somewhere too.
So, here’s how it finally finished out.
Those two little paintings were from my mother-in-law’s house when she downsized. I had them framed in a soft white for a simple look.
Across from the bed, the dresser sits with its new brass knobs and a fresh, white framed mirror. I had to get backplates for the knobs too, as the chubby wood ones left marks on the drawer fronts and I didn’t want to refinish those.
Holiday Wishes
I hope your guest rooms are ready and filled with people you love this holiday season.
Happy Holidays to all my readers, clients, friends and loved ones. :-)
