Lunch in a home that Elvis once lived in, filled with exquisite art, furnishings and lighting, was one of the fascinating treats I experienced on the LA Design Trail tour last month.
This tour, conducted by Modenus and sponsored by Dwell on Design, featured highlight after highlight....I could write a book!
Well, maybe a blogpost or two. :-)
Casa Perfect, a design gallery, high in the hills of Trousdale Estates in Beverly Hills, is actually a residence where Elvis lived for seven years with Priscilla Presley.
This gallery is introducing a new way to shop for high design furnishings items by creating the experience of seeing these items used and positioned in a spectacular home-like setting.
Casa Perfect on the LA design Trail
After hitting the LA Design Trail in the morning, seeing some beautiful and interesting showrooms and shops in LA, our drivers headed for the hills around lunch time.
We were all chatting away, not paying attention to the fact we were passing by some beautiful homes. Our driver stopped, we hopped out, and the gates slowly opened for us.
It wasn't a shop, or storefront.
It wasn't a restaurant.
It was a luxury home perched on the edge of the hills, high above Los Angeles. We knew at once, we were in for a special and unusual treat!
Some of the finishes and the architectural details were original to the house. These floors in the entry hall, for example. (Elvis walked on these floors!)
I think my home needs an oculus skylight!
This oval shaped stone fireplace, below, with the butt joint glass windows surrounding it, was quite a feature. Specialty art and lighting filled the spaces.
Just look at that view beyond! Can you imagine having a party here? Well, Casa Perfect is available for events.
This home made a perfect backdrop for these beautiful, modern pieces artfully placed within the spaces.
Even the artistic, handmade cabinet pulls are part of the offerings here at Casa Perfect.
Love this statement accent wall in one of the bedrooms. The bedding, lamps, furniture, pillows, everything is for sale.
What made this experience so special?
Was it the architecture? The history? The location? The views? The art and furnishings? The hospitality? The wine?
It wasn't any one thing. It was all of it. Combined.
This is the future of retail. A unique, special, unforgettable experience.

Do you think I’m at the RV show by the looks of this image? Well, you would be wrong.
