I was in Denver last weekend and stayed at the most wonderful hotel in a historic property, The Crawford Hotel, located downtown in Union Station.
It reminded me of my stay at Hotel Emma in San Antonio. I love staying at hotels that are well designed, have a sense of place, and a story behind them. I captured some of the beautiful details and a really grand, luxurious space that has been thoughtfully adapted to today's lifestyles with a nod to the past.

Completed in 2014, I think this is truly a must-see attraction for any trip to Colorado. You can see why they call this "Denver's living room".
We took the train directly from the airport and were deposited right in front of the main lobby. It could not have been more convenient.
It has a wonderfully upscale, trendy-yet-classical vibe. It’s busy and energetic but not packed uncomfortably with people. I could sit out there in the lobby for hours, people watching, plugged in for a charge, having a drink or two. The Amtrak station and seating, the shuffleboard, the classic pub and adjacent eateries, all make this a bustling center with lots to do for anyone.
I loved the architecture and the mix of furnishings, so befitting the historic property. Take a look at some of the pics I took of this grand open space.
I just love how they kept all these classic details. Such a great example of adaptive reuse.

I loved the mix of vintage and modern furnishings in the "living room". It played into the theme of travel and trains perfectly. Campaign details, trunks, old locker type pieces, the library tables, all contribute to the atmosphere of the space.

There were some great shops and eateries to peruse. A coffee bar, ice cream shop, and deli are just a few. There's also an indie bookstore, bottle shop, and of course, the Terminal Bar.

We had lunch at the Mercantile Dining and Provisions one day and brunch at Snooze (it came highly recommended) on both days. Both are located just off the main "living room".

We stayed in one of the loft guest rooms. These are on the 4th floor and have some of the architectural details of the old structure within.

Oh, and we did drive up to Estes Park and visit those amazing mountains. Perfect day trip, by the way. Luckily it wasn't snowing like it had been just the week before!

I've got some great info about natural stone for countertops coming out next week. I recently attended a most enlightening CEU. You'd be surprised how much misinformation is out there.
