Are you ready for Thanksgiving?
I’m not. But, I do have my table set.
I set mine early for a photo shoot day I recently had. I was shooting my remodeled home office, and I decided to go ahead and do my Thanksgiving table so I'd have some good images this year. (My pictures are never as good as a professional's.)
With my niece coming in from San Francisco, as well as my mother-in-law and my kids, we’re looking forward to this Thanksgiving. My husband does the turkey, and I usually do the sides with everyone else's help.
I kind of like cooking the same thing every year, just trying to improve a bit on last year’s recipes or just doing them the way we’ve always done them, just because we all expect it.
But my tabletop is different. I change it up every year.
For instance: this year I bought a new grey linen tablecloth and grey linen napkins from Crate and Barrel. I love how a dark grey is the perfect foil for a warm fall color scheme.
I also used my creamware, my pewter charges from Norway, my silver flatware inherited from my husband’s grandmother, and some gorgeous pumpkins. Then I added some $2 antique snuff bottles (cleaned thoroughly, btw) that I found at Round Top when Kristen, Jitka and I went hunting for props for photo shoots this past fall. They are filled with beautifully colored greenery from my local market.
So what do you think? It works, doesn’t it. ;-)
