I’m sharing a pretty laundry room from a project I worked on several years ago.
I never got around to sharing pics about this area of the job, but when I was invited to link up with five fab bloggers for a post on laundry rooms, I knew this one would be perfect to post. :-)
You’ll see links to more pretty laundry rooms from the other bloggers, down below, that you won’t want to miss!
This laundry room was part of a kitchen remodel and then later we did this master bedroom and the adjoining bathroom too. This client has great taste and lots of cool collections. She loves blue too, also MY favorite color.

A Pretty Color For The Laundry Room
After doing blue and white in the kitchen, a bright, happy periwinkle was chosen for the laundry room. That color is Sherwin Williams Skanda.
New cabinetry with a quartz countertop, an extra deep Kohler utility sink, a combination of open and closed storage, and a special place for the kitty box below the sink, all fit nicely in this small space.
The bridge faucet, bracketed shelving over the washer/dryer and wool hooked rug, found by my client on LL Bean, add a quaint cottage style.
A subtle checkerboard floor pattern with a soft yellow/tan porcelain tile was the perfect contrast to the bright color.
That 12 x 12 size on the tile was just right for this space. Any smaller and it would have been tough to care for with all that grout and any bigger and the pattern would have been lost.
This room is also basically the mud room or back entry to the house and connects to the homeowner’s sewing room beyond.
We had the perfect spot for the homeowner’s wooden hook rack, that was handmade by his father many years ago.
Just to the right of the back door are these full height cabinets for brooms, coats, even a vaccuum cleaner.
Sewing Room In Periwinkle Blue
Okay, all you seamstresses or hobbyists out there, I know you’ll be jealous of this space. ;-)
Just beyond the laundry, is the homeowner’s sewing room. We built this out for her when we did the kitchen and laundry room remodel.
She quilts, sews, and collects all kinds of textiles, trims and patterns. She’s super organized with it all too! I would love to have a little room like this off my laundry room, but mine would likely be a hot mess.
I literally emailed her the day before and asked if I could come and snap a few pics and this is what it normally looks like!
The built-in counter features the sewing area in the corner with these windows offering beautiful natural light right at the work surface.
I don’t know about you, but I think many people would call this their happy place. :-)

Fabulous products for the laundry room seen at KBIS
These two products, featured below, would make a great addition to any luxury laundry room. I saw both at KBIS, the national kitchen and bath show.
LG Styler
The LG steamer closet was seen last year, I thought then that it was one of the most useful appliances for the luxury laundry or closet I’d ever seen.
I recommended it to one of my clients last year and they put one in their small laundry off the master bath. It even steam cleans stuffed animals and pillows.
Miele Fashion Master
Ever struggle opening up that big ironing board? Do you just leave the darn thing out all the time because it is too much trouble to pull out and put back up?
Do you have clothes that you iron and iron and still look wrinkled?
I do.
So, I loved seeing this beautiful, easy to manipulate ironing board system, the Miele Fashion Master, that can be rolled in and out of storage and works so effectively for ironing clothing.
I saw this product this year at KBIS in the Miele booth and I love that it makes ironing so easy and effective.
The ironing board has a built-in multi-level fan to suck out the steam or inflate the board with air for optimum position while ironing garments. The honeycomb soleplate on the iron allows even steam distribution.
