This month is the one year anniversary of the virtual showhouse I was part of last year for Seasonal Living Magazine.
That house was a high end, luxurious, contemporary stunner, set on the California coastline, with a huge living room that I designed, perfect for entertaining! The whole downstairs was ideal for a major party actually, and I envisioned many an exclusive soiree happening there as I was designing my space, from fund-raising events to simply a great party.
12 other designers, along with myself, and 14 brands, collaborated on this home’s design and it was quite the undertaking!
One of the reasons the virtual showhouse was conceived is because we had spent the year pretty much isolated without a real life way to physically tour a home like this. You can still tour the home now, and please, after perusing this post, come back up and click on the tour if you haven’t seen this gorgeous luxury home yet.

New Year’s Eve Party In A Showhouse
I thought it would be fun to put together some New Year’s Eve decor items and party goods for this space, to imagine it all dolled up for a big get together.
Since the color palette I worked with had, gold, black and white, I’ve gone in with this scheme for my NYE party decor. Perfect for a spectacular evening to ring in the new year!
First of all, that gorgeous baby grand piano would be utilized with a paid performer, but I imagine, in southern California, there might be a few talented guests who would pop on to entertain the crowd at some point during the night. :-)
Servers would stroll around the downstairs, serving all kinds of delicious bites and cocktails. There would be some decorative moments here and there and a festive vibe would be thriving in this beautiful home.
This wall, pictured below, is my all time favorite fireplace wall I’ve ever designed. I love the quartz slabs, the wallpapered niches with steel doors and custom hardware, and the beautiful furnishings nestled in front.
Are you planning a New Year’s Eve party this year?
While you might not have this kind of space and luxury, I do have some beautiful, elegant and fun items linked below to help you party like you’re hosting in a showhouse.

See this blogpost I did last year with all the final images and how it started, as a simple shell of a space, along with the story on the design. The sponsors and sources are all linked there.
Okay, maybe I’m giving myself way too much credit here, BUT….. I do know these work. If you don’t believe me, take a peek at the empty shell I received from the rendering team BEFORE I started designing this large living room in the Seasonal Living Virtual Designer Showhouse.
