I wanted to share some more new and unique intros I saw at KBIS, the Kitchen and Bath Industry Show in Las Vegas, in February.
I have done a couple of posts already, one on the colorful products I saw everywhere and another on some of the design trends I noticed, however these next items were just unique finds that deserve a moment of reflection. :-)
Air Fryer in GE Range
First up was this new range from GE that has an air fryer mode.
If it is one thing I despise, it is too many small appliances out on a countertop. We have an air fryer and an instapot that my husband is always leaving out and I’m forever toting it back to the pantry shelf where they are supposed to stay.
Those things are huge! Like an R2D2 on your counter.
I am always interested in appliances that multi-task so we can delete the small appliances from our home.
Do you love a toaster oven too and can’t give it up? Well the air fryer option now comes in their combi countertop oven too.
Unique New appliances
LG Appliances has a new small indoor herb growing appliance called Tiiun. This is a prototype of one that can be built-in, like an undercounter beverage fridge.
They also had a little hand tote-like model, great for dark indoor spaces that have limited natural light or access to outdoors.
This table is an air purifier as well as a phone charger on top. Just lay your phone on the table and it charges.
If you’ve ever had anyone in your family interested in brewing beer, then you probably have a tub full of bottles, buckets and equipment. That seems to be where it always lands.
Here’s a home brew that might be interesting to check out. Great for your bar too.
Small Space Appliances
I see more options out there every year for small space appliances. These are so good for tiny apartments or senior living type of mini-kitchens. There are lots of good uses.
Forno has a small 20” wide range and refrigerator. Look at that tiny venthood too.
A GE Profile product that is coming out soon is this combination washer/dryer. It is a fast process that has ventless heat pump technology. Time estimates on doing various loads are shown below.
Even though the unit itself is large, it does double duty and eliminates the need for the second unit. This would be perfect in small space living situations, senior living apartments, etc.
Garbage Disposal size options
I’ve only ever specified one type of garbage disposal for kitchen design clients but now Moen offers 4 different options!
It doesn’t hurt to have a disposal in that bar sink or the little veggie sink in the island, but do you need a full size beast? Perhaps not. Now you can choose one perfect for your needs.
If you love a real workhorse of a disposal, then Moen has just the Chef Series that looks like it can handle anything!
Unique venthood
This round stainless venthood from Robam caught my eye. I’m always looking for a way to deal with venting in a more creative or less conspicuous way.
Special Materials For Surfacing
As a designer I’m always looking for special surfacing material and there were two product that stood out to me at this show.
First, Compac’s terrazzo slabs were just gorgeous. I really love the light neutral one, it just makes a gorgeous countertop.
I feel like the matrix is just right. Sometimes it is so small you can’t even tell it is terrazzo and sometimes the matrix is so big it looks chunky and like blobs. I think this is just right. :-)
Next, I loved seeing this textural stone from Borrowed Earth Collaborative. I use a lot of natural stone in my projects and I think these really have a place in either traditional or more modern spaces.
Imagine a fireplace in this wavy stone? I love it!
Unique plumbing fixtures and Finishes
Just when there doesn’t seem to be anything new in faucets any more that can be developed, Jason Wu from Brizo delivers.
This white finish with a wood handle is a fresh look.
I think every other house in my suburban neighborhood could use this tub to replace the dated old angled corner tubs in their bathrooms. This Duravit tub is stylish and it would feel like a mini swimming pool to the kids! You wouldn’t have to prod them to go take a bath. :-)
There was another square tub at Kohler, but it had sharp corners. This one just looks like it would be so much more comfortable and less of a hazard.
Don’t forget your outdoor shower (with so many colors and finishes to choose from) for your beach or lake house. :-)

This blogpost was thoughtfully written by me, Carla Aston, and not by AI, ghostwriters, or guest posters.
These 5 interior design trends showed up repeatedly in booths at KBIS, the kitchen and bath show, 2023.
I am not calling them just kitchen and bath trends because they are trends that I see in interior design with furniture and architecture too. They stood out to me this year as I was keeping an eye out for some of these as I walked the show floor. Come and see what I found as a common thread….
