While I haven't grasped everything tech in this new age of design (I still do hand drawings), there is one tool I use when I design rooms, that I really enjoy:
The Digital Storyboard or Moodboard
These boards go a long way in showing a client the style of the space. Especially in the last few years as I’ve been doing more online consulting, it has become more a part of my design process, as well as a representation of the end result desired.
I just love how they look and they are just such an effective tool!
Sometimes I do sketches, sometimes I will send recommendations on finishes like tile, paint, flooring, etc. Sometimes I will do sketches if there are more architectural features in question.
However, if you are requesting help with some type of furniture in your space, I will likely put together one of these.
It not only helps me work through what pieces look good together, but it is the best way for you to grasp the ideas I’m sharing too.
