Recently, when my daughter came home from college for the weekend, we went out to do some shopping, and one of our first stops was at Urban Outfitters.
While she tried on clothes I sat on the low 70’s ripped leather “stylish” used sofa, keeping myself entertained with their “literature” that’s always scattered about.
While I find many of their books to be obscene, I usually find something really interesting there. That day I found George Lois' classic, "D*mn Good Advice".
I’ve read this book cover to cover, and I’m now keeping it beside me at my desk to thumb through for daily inspiration.
Written by George Lois, the creative advertising legend who coined phrases and campaigns such as “I want my MTV,” “Lean Cuisine,” and “If you’ve got it, flaunt it!,” this is a great little nugget of a guide book, full of quick, fast rules to live by for the creative in all of us.
Honestly, he makes you just want to stand up, grab life by the throat, and shake it till it loves you! He makes you want to roar!
You should read it. Digest it. Burn it into your mind.
