We’re keeping our project load to a minimum “few but special” these days, here at my studio. I’m sharing some bits from a few of these today, along with a hint about some upcoming news.
We’ve got a kitchen, master bathroom and overall general remodel design going on in a home where we will be upgrading finishes all over and adding some really nice custom features. Okay, I’m sure you’ll all agree, this kitchen needs a redo. :-)
That island! What a configuration. I think this one takes the cake. Kind of like the Idaho shaped island I referenced HERE. I’m thinking this shape reminds me of barbells.
It has oh-so much potential though. The homeowner stressed that they wanted wood cabinets, wood flooring and a light-filled, warm space. We are doing a light oak floor from Du Chateau, European oak...lovely!
The cabinetry will receive that same oak finish as well. We’re accenting with some dark steel cabinet doors and metal banding on the hood, then using the same dark tone as a stain color on the front of the bar area, to sort of visually separate the kitchen from the flooring finish.
With light Taj Mahal quartzite counters and a creamy white, ceramic tile hex splash, I think it will be exactly what these homeowners will love and have an ageless appeal.
We’re finishing up a project here in The Woodlands now, with some cool features like these beautiful picture lights from Circa Lighting to show off the marble mosaic tile wall in the kitchen.
The modern shiplap paneling added in niches and in a raised ceiling area in the entry hall, brings some style to this almost whole house remodel. The wall mount faucet and turquoise vessel sink are just a small part of this bathroom’s makeover. Can’t wait to see this one finished up and ready for some pro pics.
We’ve got a jewel of a master suite we’re doing in Houston for a former client. Think Carrarra marble hex tiles, navy cabinetry, and Schumacher’s Chiang Mai fabric. The navy grasscloth on the bedroom walls will beautifully balance a wall of Repose Gray cabinetry.
Lastly, we’re kind of in limbo about our office space.
I really needed to cut my overhead and rent this year, my lease is up at the end of this month. I was all ready to sign for less square footage in a cool little building down the road, but my landlord here is trying to come up with an option for us to stay.
It's so nice to be wanted. :-)
Regardless of the outcome, we are reducing down, culling through all our samples and getting this studio down to its fighting weight! I toted 5 bags of tile samples back to one vendor today. We still have a wide sampling of all of our favorites, right at our fingertips. We can now finally see and get to them!
It feels so good to get things leaner (wish that was me too….that’ll be next :-) and hone in on some of the products that we love, for our present and future clients. I'll be keeping you posted on our whereabouts, so stay tuned!
