The "American Home" — Throughout history, its functions have been ever-changing and ever-evolving, with each feature purposely being designed to enable families to live their lives happily ever after.
So what does the new American home of 2015 look and feel like? Fabulous, I say. And I should know; because while at KBIS 2015 I was fortunate enough to have Miguel Hutton of Blue Heron Design Build give me and my fellow blogtour-ists a personal tour of what's appropriately named "The New American Home”.

Miguel walked me, along with my Modenus BlogTour blogger-friends, throughout the entire "New American Home" project.
He pointed out all of its most special features and explained his design decisions and processes.
Designers love this kind of tour!
This home was designed to be a modern, luxury dwelling that’s respectful of it’s surroundings.
It did a beautiful job of encouraging its inhabitants to enjoy both the indoors and outdoors, simultaneously. The interior structure spoke to its exterior environment as the energy of the desert landscape was beautifully married with the "Las Vegas inspired bling" style that was achieved indoors. This, in my opinion, stood out as the home’s greatest accomplishment. With patios and outdoor spaces facing every direction on every level, the home seemed to grow in size each time a door was opened to the exterior.

One of the ways this indoor / outdoor synergy was achieved was by using the same materials inside and out on the floors and (some) walls.
Pocket doors were also used, making the home feel open to the patios and their breathtaking views. Long sections of glass doors slid neatly into the wall to create a very open feeling.

All of the mosaic tiles came from Walker Zanger.
Each bathroom had interesting tile, and the fireplace in the entry made a great first impression!

The upstairs wine bar was a great place to have a party!
With a large bar, 4 TVs, a wine room behind glass doors, a pool table, the lit stone countertop, and, of course, a patio with a view, that space was fully-prepared to be fully-enjoyed!
