I have some crazy good sneak peeks from the Pasadena Showcase House of Design for you today. You are gonna love em!
After my trip to Dwell on Design in LA, I stayed a few extra days to attend the press day for this incredible showcase house.
Just to provide a little background on the history and charity behind this showcase, here is an excerpt from their site:
An all-volunteer organization, Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts (PSHA) is a non-profit California Corporation whose members donate their time and talents to produce the annual Pasadena Showcase House of Design. Founded in 1948, and formerly known as The Pasadena Junior Philharmonic Committee, they adopted the Pasadena Showcase House of Design as their annual benefit in 1965. It is one of the oldest, largest and most successful house and garden tours in the nation.
Now, let's get to some spectacular sneak peeks!
The press tour was about a week before the house opened, so some rooms were closer to being done than others and there was a considerable amount of dust still around. :-)
However, you will still get a great peek at the rooms which are now, no doubt, perfection, as it has since opened to the public. :-) (And I've got a few of the pro shots below too, that were generously shared with us.)
This home was built in 1915 in a Mediterranean style. The challenge for these designers was to create a modern and up-to-date home while paying homage to the home's roots and architectural details.
The combination of the two was seamless and really breathtaking. I love the high gloss black on the traditional front doors with the polished brass hardware. Check out the cool speakeasy door.
Entry Hall - Pasadena Showcase House
The entry hall was design by Amy Peltier. I love that black and white marble floor with the hunter green velvet stools. What a dynamic and modern take on a classic design.
Dining Room - Pasadena Showcase House
The dining room was designed by Elizabeth Lamont, from Room by the Beach, in Malibu. She wanted a light, bright, fresh space with a mix of old world details and some clean, contemporary style.
That matte gray flatware paired with the gilded candlesticks create such an interesting tablescape.
The walls, upholstered in the textural white fabric create a subtle tone on tone effect that adds layers to this bright and airy space.
I love the metallic look on the ceiling and how the traditional mouldings in the home married so well with the contemporary bling of the drapery hardware.
Library - Pasadena Showcase House
The library is going to be so sexy. That color just wraps the room and I can't wait to see this room all filled out. Nice ceiling details too. This space was designed by Dina Marciano.
Living Room, Billiard Room, Lounge - Pasadena Showcase House
The living room, billiard room, and petite lounge, designed by Designs of the Interior, was a huge space with multiple seating groups and grand piano. You can just imagine the parties that have gone on in these spaces in the past, with many more to come!
Take a look at the billiard room and the adjacent bar with all the brassy details. Again, the designers honoring the traditional aspects of the home while giving it a more contemporary vibe.
Note the undulation in the brass light fixture above the billiard table repeating itself in the beautiful brass inlay tile at the bar.
Custom billiard table built by Elevate Customs.
Kitchen - Pasadena Showcase House
Jeanne K. Chung of Cozy, Stylish Chic, did an amazing job on the kitchen with more incredible brass details like this amazing hood on top of Ann Sacks marble mosaics.
The custom hardware she used is just spectacular and looks amazing on the cabinetry. Can't wait to see the final photography of this room.
TV Lounge - Pasadena Showcase House
Michael Wrusch of Michael Wrusch Designs worked on this space. It has a great relaxed, modern vibe paired with some awesome technology.
A charging station for your phone on the sofa's arms and then a wafer-thin OLED TV, held onto the wall with magnets, are both amazing.
Pool - Pasadena Showcase House
Just outside this room was the beautiful, sleek pool, designed by Jeff Lokker of Huntington Pools.
My friend, Deborah von Donop, and I loved touring the house after our days at Dwell on Design. Such a great week of design immersion in beautiful sunny California. You just can't get much better than this for an interior designer!
