This Airbnb in California’s Sonoma Valley, is one stay you will definitely want to bookmark for your next trip to wine country.
I feel like I won the internet when I found this one!
This vacation rental, near downtown Sonoma, is nestled amongst a vineyard with rolling hills in view. It’s so picturesque, the setting alone would make this an A+ rental.
However, it’s the home design and grounds that made it a perfect stay for me. See if you agree…..
I felt like we were rolling up to a French gite when we drove up, with the gravel crackling under our tires.
We rented the main house, the owners lived in another small house on the property and then there was a second studio house.
The husband is an architect and designed the house in 1990. The wife, a landscape designer, had obviously planned the grounds with a French villa in mind.
The setting in Sonoma Valley
There was a traditional parterre, a large dining area with a fireplace, stone barbecue and pizza oven, trellised seating areas, a pool and manicured flat lawn.
The vineyard and olive trees wrapped the property to create the most idyllic setting.
Gorgeous white roses and orange trees lined the interior courtyard and climbed up the front of the houses.
Unfortunately we had rain the entire weekend, but I did get to sip my coffee here one morning in the side garden, before the rain started.
Yes, those are potted hydrangeas about to burst out and bloom, sitting beside the bench.
Stepping up to the entrance, white roses greeted you outside and in.
The overall Ambience - French inspired Farmhouse
The whole home was furnished with simple, rustic antiques and beloved furnishings. Fresh flowers, books, candles, original art, even a baby grand piano filled the home with personality and a truly timeless style.
Walls, mouldings, and ceilings were all painted a very soft peach-toned white and created a lovely warm envelope that worked so well with the exterior of the home.
I really felt like I was transported to the French countryside!
I met my family here after my stay in Napa with SKS Appliances and the Design Hounds, so it was nice to extend the trip to include a long weekend in this quaint area.
Living Room
Immediately to the left of the entry was the living room.
Kitchen and Dining Room
To the right side of the entry was the dining room and kitchen.
It was fully equipped with the best utensils and lovely white dishes, a Viking cooktop, gorgeous green Staub cookware, an espresso machine, lots of seasonings and spices to use, and of course, wine glasses.
BTW, I AM stealing that stainless steel counter/splash idea at the sink for clients with marble countertops. So durable!
Loved the wood counters too and the checkerboard, muted color tile (although I would have taken that tile all the way to the countertop ;-).
The materials just all work with the French farmhouse concept and you can see how timeless it all is.
We all cooked and enjoyed dining there. We all love a beautiful cheese and fruit plate. :-)
BEDROOMS UPSTAIRS
The bedrooms were all upstairs, with a master that had an adjoining bath and two bedrooms that shared a hall bath.
They were simply decorated using the same paint color as below. They were furnished with comfy beds, fresh, white linens, and these cute painted chests with gilded mirrors or vintage photographs. White roses found their way to the bedrooms too.
The master had a fireplace and some seating.
If you could pin this lovely image below to Pinterest for me, I’d much appreciate it! Thanks for sharing my content! :-)

We are just back from a family trip that we organized in San Diego, California this year, staying in a lovely vacation rental that turned out as one of the best ones we’ve tried so far.
